Inventions-The Bicycle

One of the 10 most famous inventions is the bicycle. A bicycle has two wheels front and back. Attach to the wheels is a frame with a sent in the middle along the top and pedals below where the rider sits to make the bike move. There is also a handle bar over the front wheel for the rider to steer the bike. Brakes are also located on the handlebar.


The first bike was called a Celerifere and was invented in 1790. It was a wooden scooter. In 1816 a Baron from Germany invented the first steering bicycle called a Drarsienne. It looked similar to the bicycle today except there were no pedals so you had to push with your feet.
The bicycle was invented to give as an easier way to travel besides on foot or by animal.

The wheel was an important invention to better transportation. The wheel makes transportation easier. The bike also has a basket in front of the handlebars to put supplies in or things that are small like food. This made it easier to move things around. Motor cycles and vehicles have all been improvements that started with the bike. The world is a better place and things are easier to do because of this invention.

The bicycle can be used for exercising, for kids to play with, and for enjoying a nice windy ride around the park.
